US Military Starts Building Gaza Pier To Deliver Aid: Pentagon

Washington: According to the Pentagon on Thursday, work has started on a pier that would increase the amount of assistance that is delivered to Gaza, which is in dire need.
Over six months of Israeli airstrikes and combat operations against Hamas terrorists have decimated the little coastal area, leaving the civilian population barely able to subsist.

Major General Pat Ryder, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, informed reporters, “I can confirm that US military vessels… have begun to construct the initial stages of the temporary pier and causeway at sea.”

The facility will include a pier to bring help ashore as well as an offshore platform for the transfer of aid from bigger to smaller boats.

US President Joe Biden originally revealed the plans in early March, when Israel was delaying ground aid deployments.

Although US soldiers won’t be “boots on the ground” in Gaza, they will remain near the troubled area while building the pier, for which Israeli forces will provide onshore security, according to US officials.
