US Police Kill Man in Los Angeles With Plastic Fork, According To Body Camera Video

The Los Angeles Police Department’s body-cam film captured a terrible event that happened on February 3—a guy clutching a plastic fork was shot and murdered by cops. When the incident occurred, the individual, identified as 36-year-old Jason Lee Maccani, was approached by several police officers in a downtown Los Angeles building’s hallway. The video depicts a tense scene in which the guy first obeys the police’ orders and then keeps moving while clenching his fists around what seems to be a screwdriver.

After failing in their attempts to restrain Maccani, police officers opened fire, killing him. The guy approaches the cops with his arms up, and the moment when bullets are fired is captured on camera.

Based on surveillance footage made public by the Los Angeles Police Department, seven officers pursued the suspect down a corridor and trapped him. Maccani was told by one officer to raise his hands and turn to face them. Although Macanni first followed the officer’s instructions, he turned around and kept moving in their direction when the officer ordered him to cease walking.

Together with the 911 call indicating Maccani had broken into the downtown Los Angeles skyscraper, the footage was made public by the LAPD on its YouTube channel.

Initially, Maccani was shot with bean bag bullets and foam pellets, which are less deadly. Those didn’t seem to be working, so one police fired at him. Screaming, Maccani reached for the shotgun’s barrel, which was used to discharge the bean bags. One of the policemen shot him, and then they tackled him to the ground. After being brought to a hospital, Maccani passed away.

Someone reported a “assault with a deadly weapon” in a warehouse by calling an emergency hotline, and police responded by going to the facility. The caller said that this individual was threatening employers with a stick while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
