All ages are filled with bibliophiles at Pusthakolsavam

Thiruvananthapuram’s Ayyankali Hall (VJT Hall) will be the place to be till March 7 for readers and aficionados seeking a taste of Malayalam literature.

Pusthakolsavam 2024, a book exhibition including Malayalam literature spanning all genres, is now underway at the location, organized by Kerala Bhasha Institute (KBI) under the auspices of the cultural department. The best part: Customers’ love of reading won’t burn a hole in their wallets thanks to the books’ reduced pricing, which range from a reasonable 20% to an incredible 70%.

Commencing on March 1st, the event was officially opened by N Maya, the head of the cultural department, and has particular significance for KBI. Because the KBI is hosting the event on its own, while having previously favored teamwork.

A wide selection of Malayalam reference books in many categories are available. The exhibition spans the whole spectrum of literary interests, including translated classics, modern literature, art, science, language, technology, travel, health, agriculture, biographies, dictionaries, women’s studies, law, journalism, management, education, world history, tourism, cinema, music, and folklore.

People of all ages are quite interested in the event, but young people who are keen to check out the newest releases are especially drawn to it.

In addition to the exhibition, books may be bought at the institute’s website (www.keralabhashainstitute.org), according to Rahul Devraj, marketing manager at KBI.

Post-pandemic patterns, according to KBI employee Beena C. V., have shown a spike in the sales of science and agricultural publications, suggesting rising reading in the fields. “Readers’ communities are greatly enhanced by exhibitions, which offer a forum for like-minded people to interact and share ideas,” the speaker said.

KBI maintains bookstores in each district where discounted books from its large inventory are arranged by State Institute of Language Category numbers.
