God appreciates good souls

Children, our selfish ideas and feeling of “I” are the main things preventing us from living happy, fulfilling lives. We cannot love others and ignore ourselves. We now have an attitude that may be summed up as “I want everything.” I want to take ownership of everything.

We cannot be happy in life if we do not alter this mindset. Therefore, let us cultivate the urge to give rather than focusing on what we may get from others. A person who just wants to receive is like a beggar; a person who loves to give is like a king.

Amma recalls a tale. A guy once went to see a buddy he hadn’t seen in a long time. The companion emerged while he was admiring the splendor of the estate his friend was staying in from the lawn. The guest greeted each other and then said, “Your home is magnificent! Aside from you, who else resides here?

“I’m by myself here,”

“Alone? Is this the home you own?

“Yes.”

“How did you earn enough money at such a young age to purchase such a large house?”

“My sibling who is older is a multimillionaire. This is the home he constructed for me.

“I can guess what you’re thinking,” the host replied, observing his friend’s stillness. Did you not wish that you had a sibling who was a millionaire as well?

In response, the guy said, “No, I was thinking that, like your brother, if I were a millionaire, I would have built such a mansion for my younger brother.”

Children, this is how we ought to think. Develop your giving. The right to take belongs to the one who gives. A charitable person will always find favor. Happiness, tranquility, and wealth are things that we have given and shared that will last a lifetime, but what we have received and experienced will go in an instant.

We set the stage for society’s collapse when we lose the will to offer. We should at least attempt to instill in our children the desire to give as well as to take, even if we are unable to care for youngsters who are only able to offer. Then and only then will peace rule both the nation and the planet.

Kids, even though we may not have the resources to assist people monetarily, we can still offer them a genuine smile or a kind word, right? How much does it cost us? One cannot be a devotee if they lack empathy for other people. We have to learn to be appreciative. We owe this earth and all its inhabitants a debt of gratitude for having raised and nurtured us. Nature, this Earth, is our mother. We have an obligation to always remember our mother.

When our sick brothers and sisters cry out for assistance, we cannot ignore them. We have to provide them all the support and consolation we can. Our lives are valued more for the things we have given than for the things we have acquired. Our lives would be so much more fortunate if we could have comforted even one individual.

The first step toward spirituality is compassion. There is nowhere that compassionate people need to look for God. The kind heart is his favorite place to be, thus he will hurry to where the compassionate people are.
