Odisha students and faculty visit horticultural university

As part of a weeklong cultural exchange program with the state, a 44-member delegation from Odisha, made up of 40 students and four faculty members from higher education institutions in the state, paid a visit to the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni.

The program’s objectives were to improve communication and foster understanding between the citizens of the two states. Under the initiative, there were events to foster an ongoing and organized cultural connection in the fields of sports, best practice exchange, tourism and food, language, culture, customs, and music.

An same trip to Odisha had previously been made by a student group from Himachal Pradesh. The team was warmly welcomed at the UHF, Nauni campus Friday evening by faculty, staff, and students. The university’s student-run “Srijan” arts club gave the group a cultural event in the outdoor theater to educate the students about the state’s rich cultural legacy. The visiting students, who in turn offered a few performances of their state, really liked songs and dance items that depicted the cultural history of the state.

In his speech, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of the UHF, expressed gratitude to the Central University of Himachal Pradesh for granting the university permission to host the group. He said that the relationship between the inhabitants of the mountains and the oceans will improve the two nations’ ability to work together.

Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. SP Bansal, participated electronically in the event as well. He said that the conversation will improve the two nations’ collaboration. According to him, the initiative has provided a multifaceted exposure across five major categories: “parampara” (traditions), “paryatan” (tourism), “pragati” (development), “paraspar pampark” (people-to-people connections), and “prodyogiki” (technology).

Attendees included Central University academic members, all statutory officials, and UHF students.
