Opening of the Women Artists Exhibition

In honor of International Women’s Day, the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA) hosted an exhibition including 44 female artists from Amritsar and around Punjab. The subject for this year is “Invest in Women,” and the gallery is showcasing female artists and their creations.

The show features 39 paintings and five sculptures created by female artists. The performers showcase a diverse range of genres and include a noteworthy combination of female amateur and professional artists. The pieces, which are related to the topic of considering women’s empowerment and what it means to be a woman in the modern world, include art from various genres, including paintings, sculptures, and digital, with various colors and styles. Tajinder Chhina and Dr. PS Grover, the IAFA general secretary, officially opened the show.

Due to a lack of unique platforms and restricted possibilities, women’s’ work is sometimes overlooked. In addition to providing them with an audience and publicizing their work, the goal of IAFA is to close the gap between their home studios and galleries, according to Tejinder.

Under the auspices of the Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts, the gallery also hosted an exhibition of female artists from nine different states, presenting a wide range of mediums as varied as the nation’s artistic heritage. Dr. Rohita, an LPU instructor and miniature artist, said that more efforts are needed to support female artists so they may support themselves financially.
