Depending on their category, applicants are allowed a varying number of tries in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Those in the general category are allowed to retake the test up to six times before turning thirty-two. Up till the age of 35, OBC applicants are permitted nine tries. Until the age of 37, SC/ST applicants are entitled for an unlimited number of tries. Up to the age of 42, individuals with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) are permitted nine tries. Candidates for EWS are permitted six tries before turning thirty-two.
