CBSE Board Examination 2024: Diabetes-Related Guidelines Announced

The recommendations for students with Type 1 diabetes taking the forthcoming CBSE class 10 and 12 board examinations in 2024 were announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). By offering the required resources and assistance, these suggestions are intended to assist students with Type 1 diabetes in managing their medical condition during examinations.

The board acknowledged the difficulties faced by pupils with Type-1 diabetes during board examinations in a note earlier this week. As a result, certain policies and standard operating procedures have been implemented to allow students to use these resources.

With the assistance of experts, CBSE has examined the assistance given to students with Type-1 diabetes and has concluded that certain amenities would henceforth be available during the board examinations for classes 10 and 12. These pupils will now be allowed to carry certain items—enclosed in clear pouches or boxes—into the assessment room or hallway. Among the things are:

1. Sweeteners, chocolate, and candies

2. Fruits such as orange, banana, or apple

3. High-protein snacks such as sandwiches and any kind of diet

4. Medication needed as directed by a physician

5. 500 ml water bottle

6. Glucose testing strips and glucometer

7. Insulin pumps, flash glucose monitors (FGM), and/or continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices.

In order to enable students to take advantage of these advantages, the Board also published standard operating procedures. Important rules consist of:

1. During registration or submission of the List of Candidates (LOC), students must disclose to the board that they have Type-1 diabetes.

2. During board exams, students must submit certain papers on the site in order to use the amenities. These papers provide a parent’s guarantee of the safety of these devices as well as medical specialists’ suggestions for using CGM, FGM, and insulin pumps during tests.

3. Schools, students, or parents must apply in accordance with the timetable established by CBSE in order to access these amenities. We won’t accept requests that are made after the schedule has ended.

4. In order to notify the Center Superintendent of the goods they will be carrying, the school, student, or parent should attend the examination center at least one day prior to the commencement of the test.

5. Students should make sure they are seated in the exam hall by 9:45 a.m. and be at the testing location at least 45 minutes before the exam starts.

6. All requests and applications, together with the required paperwork, must be submitted by students via their school. Students cannot submit direct petitions to the CBSE.

7. All other objects, with the exception of gear worn on the body, shall be stored in a clear box or pouch under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent (Invigilator), from which students may collect them as required.
