20 are being held for stealing a farmer’s wheat-filled tractor-trailer

At Sidhwan Bet here, a farmer from Patti, Tarn Taran, had his tractor-trailer filled with wheat when around twenty armed individuals stole it.

Yesterday, the rural police of Ludhiana filed a complaint against twenty people. Three of them, Ferozepur residents Sahba Singh, Gurvinder Singh, and Ravinder Singh, were recognized.

Amarvir Singh, also known as Laddi, a resident of Garden Colony, Patti, filed the complaint, claiming to have leased 60 acres of agricultural property in Sidhwan Bet from Gurkirat Singh, a South Delhi resident. He leased it for a year at a cost of Rs. 60,000 per acre and planted wheat there.

The complainant said that he was collecting the harvest from the farm on Tuesday since the purchase of wheat was ongoing. When around twenty people in four vehicles pulled there, the tractor-trailer was parked in the fields and he was going to transport it to a neighboring grain market. They carried sticks, iron rods, and sharp weapons in addition to their guns.

“They took away the tractor-trailer filled with wheat and aimed weapons at me.” The suspects instructed me to inform the landowner about the event, claiming they had a disagreement with him. I asked them why they were taking my tractor-trailer and whether they had any problems with the landowner. However, they ignored my request and took off with my car, the man said.

The complainant said that he had filed a complaint yesterday and that the police had opened a case after getting my statement on record.

The complainant further said that he had spoken with police at Sidhwan Bet, who informed him that several police units were out on raids in an attempt to apprehend the culprits and retrieve the tractor-trailer.
