2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Lalu Yadav’s daughters, Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya, are fielded by the RJD from Bihar

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: A fresh list of 22 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections was made public by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Tuesday. Rohini Acharya from Saran and Misa Bharti from Pataliputra, the daughters of former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav, are members of the party.

The opponent of Rohini is Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a former Union Minister and leader of the BJP.

Tickets have been issued to Bima Bharti from Purnia, Vijay Kumar Shukla, also known as Munna Shukla, from Vaishali, and Shahnawaz Alam from Araria by the RJD, which is allied with the I.N.D.I.A. bloc. Shivhar has given the ticket to Ritu Jaiswal.

About Rohini Acharya Rohini will be running for office in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Saran Lok Sabha seat. Rohini is well-known for her strong social media presence and her outspoken criticism of her parents’ political opponents. Rohini was seen on the dais with her father during the opposition’s Jan Vishwas Rally earlier this month at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. Her father then presented her to the assembled throng.

It is important to note that in December 2022, during her father’s kidney transplant procedure in a Singaporean hospital, Rohini was the one who kindly gave her father one of her kidneys. After giving her sick father—whose kidney was barely working at 25% of its potential—an altruistic kidney donation, she won the respect of many people. Her deed touched many people’s hearts and gave her father a new lease on life.

Misa Bharati Lalu’s daughter, Misa Bharti, is no stranger to politics; she formerly represented the RJD as an MP in the Rajya Sabha. Misa has run for office twice before from Patliputra, but both times she was defeated.

Since 2014, Ram Kripal Yadav has served as the constituency representative for Pataliputra. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019, Yadav beat Misha (Misa) Bharti, the daughter of RJD chairman Lalu Prasad Yadav. Prior to2008, the Pataliputra seat was a part of the Patna seat. Yadav became victorious in Patna in 1993, 1996, and 2004.

Saran Lok Sabha seat
The Saran seat in Bihar, where Jay Prakash Narayan was born, is politically crucial. It is regarded as one of the state’s most prominent legislative seats. Lalu Yadav began his parliamentary career in this area in 1977 and has been elected as the MP four times. Rabri Devi, his spouse, has also run for office from this seat.

Saran was defeated by Lalu Yadav in the 2009 elections. But he lost his right to run for office after being found guilty of the fodder fraud. Rabri Devi therefore, ran for this seat in 2014. In spite of this, Rajiv Pratap Rudy emerged victorious and rejoined parliament, rendering all of RJD’s attempts to counter the Modi wave futile.

With 4,99,342 votes, BJP candidate Rajiv Pratap Rudy won the 2019 election once again, while Chandrika Rai of the RJD garnered 3,60,913 votes. Similar to this, Rabri Devi of the RJD lost to Rajiv Pratap Rudy in 2014, receiving 3,55,120 votes as opposed to 3,14,172.
