40-year-old history sheeter in Thane arrested for attempted murder of lady

MUMBAI: The police detained a 40-year-old history sheeter on suspicion of trying to kill a lady after a failed robbery attempt in Thane, Maharashtra.

The perpetrator forced entry into the victim’s home in Baneli village, Titwala area, on Monday around 1 pm while she was alone, according to an official statement released on Tuesday from the police control room. The official said that the perpetrator then attempted to take her belongings.

He said that the guy allegedly repeatedly stabbed her with a knife in reaction to her resistance.
According to the official, her neighbors responded quickly to the woman’s plea for help, escorting the guy to safety and turning him over to the police.
He said the culprit was eventually apprehended and prosecuted for the attempted murder under many sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 307 of the code.
The accused has a history of robberies, according to the police, with many charges against him having been filed at several district police stations.
