60-year-old man in Tamil Nadu crushed to death by a wild elephant

On Thursday morning, a wild elephant near Jawalagiri crushed and killed a 65-year-old man.

P Siddhalingappa, a native of Mookandam village, has been identified as the dead. While grazing cattle, he was attacked.

According to Jawalagiri forest ranger K Arivalagan, “he was attacked and trampled to death by an elephant that entered the Ulibenda reserved forest in Jawalagiri forest range from the nearby reserve forest.”

When department employees arrived, they took Siddhalingappa’s corpse to the government hospital in Denkanikottai so that an autopsy could be performed. The deceased’s family received a compensation check for Rs 50,000, and they will get the rest Rs 9.50 lakh after they provide the required paperwork, Arivalagan said.

The government has previously conducted a number of awareness campaigns for the locals living near the forest. The official said that residents of Madakkal, Sulakunta, Mookandam, and other villages had also received warnings on the movement of elephants.
