A 107-year-old refuses to cast a ballot from home

Guljar Singh, the district’s oldest voter at 107 years old, is adamant about going to the polls even though he has the opportunity to vote from home.

To further assist individuals with disabilities (PwDs) and those over 85, the Indian Election Commission has launched the “voting from home” option. A group of representatives will get in touch with people who are eager to vote from home.

When Assandh SDM Virender Singh Dhull arrived to Guljar Singh’s house to visit, he asked how he was doing. Singh said, “I will personally go to my booth to cast my vote this time as well. I have voted in every election since independence.”

He urged voters to take part fully in this democratic celebration. “Every voter has a constitutional right to use it, and everyone should,” he said.
