A bridge that was under construction in Peddapalli falls

Peddapalli: On Monday and Tuesday nights, a portion of a bridge that was still under construction across the Manair River collapsed. But there weren’t any losses.

The event took place in Mutharam Mandal’s Odedu village. Strong winds caused two girders to fall. Since the event happened after midnight when no one was there, a tragedy was avoided.

On Tuesday, villagers reported the incident to the police. Since 2016, construction has been underway on a bridge spanning one kilometer. The bridge was being built to link the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district’s Odedu and Garmillapalli hamlet.

A new contractor, insufficient funding, and other factors all contributed to the work’s delay. The locals were using a makeshift route under the bridge for their commutes.

2016 saw the laying of the bridge’s discovered stone. It was supposed to be finished in a year at an estimated cost of Rs 47.40 crore.

It was anticipated that the bridge will shorten the journey by around 50 kilometers between the towns of Manthani and Parakal, as well as Bhupalpally and Jammikunta.
