A Thane man was detained for doing black magic

Thane: According to police reports on Tuesday, a 40-year-old man from Titwala, Maharashtra’s Thane district, has been detained for reportedly practicing black magic and asserting that he has the power to fight off “evil spirits.”.

A complaint about her daughter’s frequent sickness and separation from her spouse led to the accused’s arrest. The mother was a resident of Kisan Nagar.

The accused had seen the mother eight times for her daughter’s medical care, but the latter’s condition had not improved. Next, on the evening of April 20, the accused told the lady to take her daughter and other family members to a crematorium on Padgha-Borivili Road so he could conduct rituals to purge them of “evil spirits.”. In addition, he requested that the lady pay Rs. 5,000 for the ceremony.

The lady found out that six or eight other people had also gone to the cremation on the accused’s recommendation in order to get rid of “evil spirits” when she arrived. The accused was being carried to a local temple by a group of ten to twelve villagers, who interrupted him and called him a “fake godman” as he was carrying out the rites.

Following the woman’s complaint, police were called, showed up quickly, and took the offender into custody. The Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act-2013 has been invoked to book the accused.
