PM Modi will inaugurate five major projects before the Lok Sabha elections, including the Chenab Bridge and the Delhi-Mumbai E-Way

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil five historic projects in the next two months before to the Lok Sabha elections, News18 has learned.

The prime minister will launch other big projects around the nation, including this one, after touring Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu to date to showcase projects valued at billions of rupees.

The five major projects on the PM’s agenda for the inauguration are the Dwarka Expressway in Delhi, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, the world’s tallest railway bridge (the Chenab Bridge in J&K), the Agra Metro to the Taj Mahal, and the section of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway that passes through Gujarat.

According to a Tuesday News18 story, PM Modi is set to launch a plethora of infrastructure projects around the nation over the next two months as part of what authorities are calling a “campaign of Viksit Bharat” ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This will include industries such as telecom, aviation, railroads, petroleum and natural gas, and road and highway construction. Before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections takes effect, the prime minister is anticipated to visit many states to introduce these initiatives.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE FIVE LARGE PROJECTS

1. Chenab Bridge: The prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir is expected to open the tallest rail bridge in the world, which will also signify the completion of the rail connection between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley. The bridge is located on the Katra-Banihal line, which is the only portion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail connection project that is not in use. The Chenab Bridge is the tallest rail bridge in the world, measuring 1,315 meters in length and 359 meters in height. In the Jammu and Kashmiri district of Reasi, it connects Bakkal and Kauri by crossing the Chenab River. The last joint of the bridge, known as the “Golden Joint,” was finished in 2022. This is also the location of the first-ever track-mounted vehicle testing, which took place here last year. A track has been laid.

2. Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: On January 12, the prime minister will officially open the nation’s longest sea bridge in Mumbai. The former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be honored by having the sea bridge that links Navi Mumbai and Mumbai bear his name. The 21.6-kilometer bridge will cut the time it takes to go from the island metropolis to the mainland down to only 20 to 25 minutes. Mumbai is an island metropolis well-known for its transit and travel from the South to the North. Improved East-West connection via MTHL would enable cheaper and faster transportation of labor and raw materials from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai metropolis.

3. The prime minister is also scheduled to inaugurate the Gurgaon section of the Dwarka Expressway shortly. This massive project, which would benefit the Delhi-NCR area, is planned to include four level interchanges, an 8-lane, 3.8-kilometer tunnel, and India’s first completely access-controlled, eight-lane elevated highway on a single pier. Along with various 3-lavel interchanges for signal-free connectivity, a 2.4 km long 6-lane tunnel for seamless access to Delhi International Airport, and a 6-lane service road for local traffic segregation are also included in this project.

4. The prime minister may open two more sections of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Two sections of the expressway, the Modak-Jhabua length in Madhya Pradesh and the Sohna-Dausa-Lalsot portion in February of last year, were previously opened by the PM. The PM may shortly launch a specific section in Rajasthan and a significant portion in Gujarat between Ankaleshwar and Vadodara. This would significantly reduce the travel time between the two major cities, Mumbai and Delhi.

5. Agra Metro: The prime minister may soon unveil a 6-kilometer metro segment in Agra that travels to the Taj Mahal. This is a notable project since Agra has a large influx of visitors each year, and a metro was intended to reduce traffic and improve passenger convenience. The priority corridor segment that will be opened consists of a subterranean segment as well. After Kanpur, Lucknow, and Noida, this will be the fourth metro project in Uttar Pradesh to open for business.
