A woman judge who requested euthanasia approval due to suspected sexual harassment receives a death threat

The female civil judge in Banda district has now claimed to have received a death threat in a registered letter, three months after she asked the Chief Justice of India for permission to end her life due to suspected sexual harassment, according to the police.

Anupam Dubey, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Banda, has said that in order to identify the sender, the police would review CCTV video from the appropriate post office.

The Additional Superintendent of Police in Banda, Laxmi Niwas Mishra, said, “We have registered a FIR against unknown individuals for threatening the judicial officer and the investigation has begun.”

The SHO of the Banda police station stated that police filed a case against unknown people under Sections 467 (forgery of valuable security or a will) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code in response to her allegation.

In accordance with the SHO, the police will identify the sender of the threatening letter by looking through CCTV video from the appropriate post office.

The judge said in a written complaint filed on Sunday that she received the threatening letter at her home on March 28 via registered mail.

The envelope of the letter, purportedly from someone by the name of RN Upadhyay, also had the cellphone number 9415802371.

She included the names of three people in her complaint who she thinks could be responsible for the threatening letter that was sent to her.

She said that the high court’s involvement had prompted an inquiry into the alleged sexual harassment complaint she had filed.

This event comes after her first plea to the CJI in December of last year, during which she sought an inquiry into her claims that a senior judicial official had harassed her sexually.

Four months ago, the letter went viral on social media, accusing a court official of sexual harassment when she was posted in the Barabanki area.
