AAP Warns: If the opposition cannot come together for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, there would be no election

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made worrying claims, claiming that there would not be a national election if opposition parties cannot come together for the impending 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Saurabh Bharadwaj, the national spokesperson for the AAP and a cabinet minister in Delhi, reportedly expressed concern at a press conference that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi were to win re-election, he might use the Constitution to declare himself the nation’s “king” for the rest of his life.

While Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva rejected Bharadwaj’s allegations as unfounded, he emphasised the necessity for opposition parties to band together and fight against the BJP’s claimed efforts to repress the opposition by whatever means necessary.

Bharadwaj expressed worries about the loss of freedom and the sacrifice made by many people for the nation’s independence by accusing the governing party of using strategies like conducting raids and imprisoning opposition leaders. He issued a warning that the foundation of democracy and basic rights would be at jeopardy if Modi were to hold onto power in 2024.

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, is organising an opposition summit on June 23 with the goal of plotting ways to defeat the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections.

In response to Bharadwaj’s remarks, Virendra Sachdeva called the AAP’s allegations “childish” and demanded an explanation for why they were so ready to establish partnerships with groups and individuals they had previously decried and accused of corruption.

Additionally, Bharadwaj called the Indian National Congress “copycats” for allegedly stealing concepts from the AAP manifestos. He said that the Congress is now copying the AAP’s welfare programmes after criticising them, demonstrating a lack of innovation and ideas inside the oldest political party in the nation.

Bharadwaj accused the federal government of purposefully impeding the operation of the elected AAP administration in Delhi in an attempt to address the continuing dispute between the two over service issues. He said that the AAP’s social programmes are being deliberately undercut, private hospital procedures are being hampered by Delhi hospitals, and JJ cluster residents are being forcibly evicted.
