Actress assault case: Kerala High Court declines to revoke Malayalam actor Dileep’s bail

On Wednesday, the Kerala High Court declined to revoke the bail that was given to Malayalam actor Dileep, who is facing accusations of sexual assault against an actress.

The prosecution’s 2022 petition, which challenged the extra special sessions court in Ernakulam’s decision to deny the state prosecution’s request to revoke Dileep’s 2017 bail granted by the Kerala High Court, was denied by a single bench of Justice Sophy Thomas. The Sessions Judge’s remarks in her decision declining to revoke the bail, the court underlined, would not impact the evaluation of the evidence in the primary trial.

On July 10, 2017, Dileep was taken into custody. On October 3, 2017, the Kerala High Court granted him bail.

The prosecution filed a motion in the High Court, claiming that Dileep disregarded the terms of his release and that he and his friends were engaging in a variety of illegal acts, such as destroying evidence and influencing prosecution witnesses.

On February 17, 2017, a group in Kochi sexually attacked a well-known Malayalam actress when she was riding in a vehicle. The attack was also recorded by the perpetrators.
