Rajnath Singh endorses the NCC’s growth

NEW DELHI: A plan to recruit 3,00,000 more cadets to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) has been approved by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. According to the defense ministry, the expansion is anticipated to meet the growing demand for the NCC from educational institutions around the nation.
“Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal for expansion of the National Cadet Corps with the addition of three lakh cadet vacancies,” stated the statement.

“From just 20,000 cadets in 1948, the NCC will now have a sanctioned strength of 20 lakh cadets in its roles, making it the largest uniformed youth organization in the world,” the government said in a statement.
It said that two additional NCC units and the construction of four new “Group Headquarters” are included in the expansion plan.
“With NCC being offered as an elective subject as per the National Education Policy 2020, the expansion will be a step towards meeting the aspirations of the youth towards playing a pivotal role as future leaders of the nation,” stated the ministry.
“The far-reaching impact of this expansion will lead to a proportionate distribution of vacancies across all States and Union Territories and would reduce the waiting list of institutions aspiring for the NCC,” stated the statement.
The idea of using the abilities and extensive expertise of former military members as NCC teachers is a significant aspect of the expansion strategy.
“This noble initiative will ensure quality training for the NCC cadets and generate employment opportunities for the veterans,” stated the government.
According to the statement, the expansion shows a commitment to developing future leaders who exhibit self-control, initiative, and leadership.
“The NCC aims to make a transformative impact, fostering an environment where youth meaningfully contribute towards nation-building,” it said.
