Admn prepares for CAPFs to remain in Malerkotla for election duties

Malerkotla, the state’s youngest and smallest district, will be three years old on June 1 when voters flood 400 polling places to cast ballots for the Sangrur and Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary seats.

Although a thorough plan has already been created to ensure that voting will proceed as planned and that voters and poll workers will have easy access to and a comfortable stay at polling places, the administration may find it difficult to make the best arrangements for security personnel to have a comfortable stay.

Deputy Commissioner Pallavi and SSP Simrat Kaur’s administration, however, said that they had set up sufficient space for the accommodation of paramilitary personnel who sometimes arrived in the area.

Extra state troops and Central Armed Police troops have already begun to arrive for deployment in different locations around the district, and the selection of locations for their stay has been contingent upon a number of requirements, including ease of access, cleanliness, the provision of civic facilities, and safety. Structures such as educational institutions, lodgings, guest homes, and resorts that meet the necessary standards are being upgraded further to maximize the comfort of the staff members serving on special election duty.

According to DC Pallavi and SSP Simrat Kaur, a sufficient number of buildings with roomy, airy rooms have already been set up and checked for the provision of municipal facilities in accordance with Election Commission rules.

DC Pallavi said, “We have advised sub-division level officers to ensure that personnel staying at these places enjoy a dignified and comfortable boarding and lodging after we finalized an adequate number of premises with desired specifications.”

The SSP stated that they had asked the circle officials at Malerkotla, Amargarh, and Ahmedgarh to beef up security around the structures. According to the SSP, one CAPF company stationed in the district’s members had expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.
