Among the two arrested for dowry harassment is an Army Major

Two family members, one of whom is an Army Major, have been arrested by the Nurmahal police on suspicion of dowry harassment.

The suspects were identified as Major Nilanshu Rangi, who is assigned to the 66th Armoured Regiment in Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra, and his mother, Sunita Rangi, who is the spouse of Bhareeg Yashvir Rangi, who lives in DLF Valley, Panchkula, Haryana, according to Investigating Officer (IO) Inspector Sandeep Kaur. After her marriage to Nilanshu was formally consummated, Vipasha Kashyap, a native of Bhandal Himmat hamlet, reported to the police that she had been hounded for dowry ever since and had been compelled to leave the home.

The IO said that after a probe and while further investigation was ongoing, a case under Sections 406 and 498-A of the IPC was filed against the accused.
