An Indian fisherman who was imprisoned by Pakistan passes away in a Karachi jail “after falling”

Mumbai: According to Sandhya Nair, Vinod Kol (45), a fisherman from Dahanu, died last month after a fall. Kol had been detained for eighteen months in a Karachi jail for breaching international maritime borders. This year’s first Indian fisherman to pass away while incarcerated in Pakistan is him. On April 29, his corpse will be sent to India. On April 30, 35 Indian fishermen are anticipated to be freed from a Pakistani prison.

Kol and eight other people worked aboard the “Matsyaganda 9” boat.

Two days after they left from Okha port in Gujarat on September 25, 2022, all nine were taken into custody by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. Even after his sentence to prison expired in November 2022, Kol remained incarcerated. At the Wagah border, the corpse will be handed over to Indian officials.

According to peace campaigner Jatin Desai, Kol apparently fell while being held in custody on March 8 and was sent to Karachi’s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, where he passed away on March 17.
