An NIA inquiry into the murder of a VHP leader in Nangal is required

A high-ranking delegation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) met with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Thursday, demanding an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the murder of Punjab VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal on April 13.

The delegation urged in a note to the Home Secretary that the investigation be moved from the Punjab Police to the NIA, citing previous deaths of Hindu leaders in the state as evidence of a Pakistani plot behind the murder.

“Terrorist masterminds based in Pakistan are supporting a terror module that includes the murder.” Based on initial investigations, it has been determined that this module is a terror operation, run and financed by foreign operators out of Portugal and other locations. The letter said that the two attackers whom the Punjab Police claim to have apprehended are just agents of these foreign organizations that serve terrorist masterminds located in Pakistan.

Working president Harpreet Singh Gill of the Punjab area, secretary general Bajrang Bagra, joint general secretary Surendra Jain, and worldwide president of the VHP Alok Kumar made up the team.
