Meet CM Arvind Kejriwal in prison, Sunita and Atishi give him an update on the health and schools

NEW DELHI: Minister Atishi of Delhi said on Monday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had given her instructions to make sure the city’s citizens have access to water throughout the summer.

Atishi said that when she inquired about the AAP national convener’s well-being in prison with his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, Kejriwal assured her not to worry about him.

“I inquired about his well-being and how he was doing. He assured me that I should not be concerned about his well-being.

The AAP had previously announced that ministers from Delhi would routinely meet with Kejriwal in prison to talk about matters of governance. Last week, Saurabh Bharadwaj, the minister of health, met with Kejriwal and Atishi on Tuesday. In connection with a money laundering case involving the since-retracted excise scheme, the Delhi CM is being held in Tihar Jail.

AAP officials had previously said that the Tihar government had rejected Sunita’s request to visit her husband.

Atishi informed reporters that CM had asked her whether books were being given to students. “He also inquired as to whether the issue with medications in mohalla clinics had been rectified and if kids were having any trouble in school.”

Atishi said, “CM has asked to pay special attention to this matter,” in reference to making sure there is a sufficient supply of water throughout the summer. He has a message just for women. He assured them that they would get their Rs 1,000 honorarium shortly and said that he would make an appearance soon. He is formulating a strategy for the scheme.
A monthly honorarium plan of Rs 1,000 for women beyond the age of eighteen was announced by the Delhi government in March, when they presented the budget for the fiscal year 2024–25.

Speaking on behalf of the Delhi BJP, Praveen Shankar Kapoor described Atishi’s remarks as “melodrama” and said that Kejriwal focused on raising funds for the AAP’s political growth between 2015 and 24 rather than considering the needs of the populace.

Atishi said that the Tihar officials’ previous denial of Sunita’s request to see her husband was a tyranny by the BJP. It is acceptable for two people to meet at once. They had given us permission to meet him, but they suddenly said no. What kind of conspiracy is this?
