As of April 21, Fort Kochi will be a part of the Kochi Water Metro network

At last, the wait is over. On Sunday, Kochi Water Metro Rail Ltd (KWMRL) will begin offering service to Fort Kochi.

The service, which costs ~40 per passenger from the High Court Junction terminus, is anticipated to increase the number of visitors to Fort Kochi, a popular vacation destination for both local and foreign tourists.

Construction on the Fort Kochi terminal is finished, according to Kochi Water Metro authorities. On Wednesday, KWMRL received the fourteenth electric boat from Cochin Shipyard out of the twenty-three that were allotted. According to an official announcement, “the commercial service will begin from April 21 for the public. The trial runs of the boats and ticketing service have been completed.”

On the route, the boats will run every 20 to 30 minutes. Officials anticipate that travelers hoping to go to Fort Kochi without experiencing traffic jams would benefit from the new service.

The nation’s first water metro service was implemented in Kochi. In December 2021, the first boat, Muziris, was launched.

There will be nine terminals on the KWMRL when the Fort Kochi line opens. Vyttila, High Court, Vypeen, Kakkanad, Bolgatty, South Chittoor, Cheranalloor, and Eloor are some of its other endpoints.
