Badruddin Ajmal is cautioned by Himanta Biswa Sarma that if he performs magical healing in Assam, he would be arrested

Badruddin Ajmal, the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a member of the Lok Sabha for Assam, was forewarned by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma not to engage in magical healing inside the state should he face imprisonment.

On Wednesday, March 6, the Chief Minister said, “Badruddin Ajmal practices magical healing, and he tried his tricks during his public meetings also,” as he unveiled a number of development projects in the Lakhimpur region of Assam. However, a bill to outlaw magical healing in the state has been enacted by the Assam Assembly. Anyone caught engaging in this behavior will be imprisoned.”

Additionally, according to Sarma, Badruddin Ajmal may not do as he says, but the AIUDF chief has to adhere to the Assembly’s 2024 Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill.

In the just-ended Assembly Budget Session, the Assamese government enacted a bill that would make it illegal to perform magical healing under the guise of therapy and recommend severe consequences for anyone who does so.

The purpose of the bill is to outlaw and ban the use of magical healing methods to cure ailments including autism, physical deformities, blindness, deafness, and speechlessness.
