Block parties in India stage nationwide demonstrations against the suspension of opposition MPs

The four INDIA bloc parties in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), and Apna Dal (K), protested against the suspension of 146 opposition MPs from both Houses of Parliament on Friday in Lucknow and other parts of the state.

Some alliance partners coordinated the demonstration in locations including Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow. The SP, Congress, and RLD all started their protests in Lucknow individually, but as their members sang anti-BJP chants together, they eventually joined forces close to the collectorate.

During the Winter Session, opposition MPs were suspended for asking Union Home Minister Amit Shah to respond to their concerns on the December 13 Parliament security incident. The Aam Aadmi Party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also participated in the demonstration in front of the Lucknow collectorate.

Participants in the demonstration included representatives of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the RLD, the RJD, and the Congress. The demonstration was carried out by INDIA, not just the SP, said Samajwadi Party spokesman Juhie Singh.

In the meanwhile, the SP stated in a statement released here that demonstrations against the undemocratic process of suspending 146 MPs were organized in all of the state’s district headquarters, including Lucknow, under party chairman Akhilesh Yadav’s orders.

The message went on, “The goal of this protest is to overthrow the BJP government and preserve democracy and the Constitution.” Following the demonstrations, the district judges sent a note from the SP to President Droupadi Murmu. Memorandums were also sent by the Congress to the collectorates.

The statement claimed that participants in the demonstrations included SP officials, laborers, and regular citizens from all around the state. It further said that the leaders of the demonstrations voiced their displeasure with the BJP government’s bad policies, anti-farmer, anti-youth, and growing rates of unemployment and corruption. Ajay Rai, the president of the State Congress, was sitting on a silent dharna in Purkaji, Muzaffarnagar district, during the UP Congress’s current “UP Jodo Yatra.”

Azamgarh, Firozabad, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Maharajganj, Sultanpur, Basti, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Prayagraj, Budaun, Sant Kabirnagar, Deoria, Ballia, Azamgarh, Fatehpur, Balrampur, Mathura, Vrindavan, Varanasi, Jhansi, Sonbhadra, and Mirzapur districts were among those that organized the protests.
