Nepalese National Arrested by Delhi Police for Abusing Air India Cabin Crew on Flight to Delhi

On the trip from Toronto to Delhi, a Nepalese passenger is accused of abusing the staff, breaking the restroom door, and engaging in other unacceptable behavior. The Delhi Police has opened an investigation against the passenger, Mahesh Pandit, after receiving a first information report.

Aditya Kumar, the victim’s cabin supervisor, submitted a FIR describing the accused’s disorderly behavior and adding that the pilot in charge had warned the accused to halt the abuse. Furthermore, when a smoke warning went sounded, the passenger was allegedly found in the restroom with a cigarette and a lighter.

When I opened the door in front of the passenger, he shoved me back and went to his seat 26F, Kumar reportedly told the police. He assaulted me and shoved me as I attempted to stop him. He afterwards shattered LAV door 3F-RC. I immediately alerted the captain after that, and on his direction, Punit Sharma from the cabin crew and the other four passengers and I attempted to detain him in accordance with SOP.

“With the assistance of 10 other passengers, we were able to restrain the accused passenger,” he said. Later, we discovered that the accused was attempting to assault the passengers.

According to reports, the Delhi Police have opened an inquiry into a complaint against the Nepalese citizen under sections 323/506/336 of the Indian Penal Code and 22,23,25 of the Aircraft Rules.

Over the last several months, there have been many reports of disruptive behavior against flight attendants and other passengers. A passenger named Shankar Mishra was detained after reportedly peeing on an elderly lady onboard a flight from New York to Delhi on November 26, 2022.
