Cases of kidnapping and extortion against KCR’s nephew

The nephew of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kalvakuntla Tejashwar Rao, also known as Kanna Rao, has been accused of theft, kidnapping, extortion, and physical and sexual assault by a Punjagutta techie in a detailed complaint.

Based on a complaint by a V Vijaya Vardhan Rao, police filed complaints under IPC Sections 365 (kidnapping), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and trespassing.

Vijaya Vardhan cited G Tulasi Ram, Kanna Rao, Sham Prasad, Santhosh Nadipeli, and Bindhu Madhuri, also known as Nandini Chowdary, in his case.

According to the complaint, in 2018 he got in touch with Kanna Rao to ask for his assistance in resolving a property issue with his paternal uncle. He added that he gradually got to know Kanna Rao and confided in him about personal matters, including marriage.

According to Vijaya Vardhan, he went to Kanna Rao’s home in Bolarum and met his wife Vijitha Rao, who promised to assist in setting up their marriage. “Believing in Kanna Rao, I resided with his family for three months, disclosing financial information at that time. He told Sham Prasad, Nadipelli, and Nandini Chowdhry about these particulars. They put pressure on me to get a loan from Infosys, my job, but I declined. I moved to Banjara Hills in September 2023 because I couldn’t satisfy his demands financially,” the lawsuit said.

In his complaint, Vijaya Vardhan said that towards the end of 2023, the accused had physically restrained him, threatened him with lethal weapons, and taken costly gold jewelry and silver puja items from him. The accused had also linked him to a real estate deal and demanded money from him.

“On December 31, 2023, G Tulasi Ram and Bindu Madhuri barged into my chamber, and then Kanna Rao and his knifing thugs arrived. My wrists and legs were bound to a chair by Kanna Rao and Madhuri, who also threatened and stole 35 tolas of gold from me. Vijaya Vardhan reported, “Then Kanna Rao abducted me and brought me to his guesthouse where he attempted to sexually assault me by threatening me.”

He said that Kanna Rao had given him instructions to communicate with Bhujanga Rao, the previous ACP of Banjara Hills, who had also threatened to put him in jail if he did not comply with the accused’s requests.

Eventually, Bindhu Madhuri persuaded me to speak with the ACP once again, and they gave me strict instructions to give over certain papers and provide money to Kanna Rao or else face serious repercussions. I did what they told me,” Vijaya Vardhan grumbled.

He said that under fear of violence, Kanna Rao coerced him into transferring Rs 40 lakh from his bank account and into giving over gold and silver items from his bank locker.

Vijaya Vardhan also claimed that Kanna Rao had coerced him into paying an additional Rs 60 lakh for an apartment. He said that it was only after Kanna Rao’s arrest that he found the confidence to contact the police.
