According to authorities, the CBI has detained an executive director of GAIL in connection with an alleged Rs 50 lakh bribery case in which money was exchanged to favor a few contractors working on gas pipeline projects.

Four other people, including Director of Vadodara-based Advance Infrastructures Surender Kumar, have also been detained in addition to GAIL Executive Director (Projects) KB Singh, they said.
