Chennai pastor accused of murdering wife

Tuesday saw the arrest of a 35-year-old man in Ponmar village, Kancheepuram district, who was accused of murdering his wife on Sunday after an altercation. The guy informed the woman’s relatives in Perumbakkam that her illness had caused her death.

The accused, Vimal Raj, was a pastor at a church in Ponmar, according to the Thalambur police. Mumbai was the hometown of his 33-year-old wife, Vaishali. Vimal met Vaishali four years ago while working in Mumbai, and the two were married a few years later. Their daughter is 11 months old.

“The couple quarrelled often, and Vimal suspected her fidelity,” a police officer said. Vimal killed her with a pillow on Sunday after they got into a fight. He then informed Vaishali’s relatives in Perumbakkam that she had passed away after collapsing in the home and being taken to the hospital. But her brother got suspicious and reported to the authorities that the corpse seemed to have injuries.

It is stated that even before all of Vaishali’s family members could reach, Vimal attempted to perform the last rituals and cremate the corpse. Vimal and his family were questioned by police in response to the allegation. During the investigation, Vimal admitted to carrying out the murder. Following his Tuesday arrest, the deceased was sent to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for a postmortem examination.
