Who is CM MK Stalin’s Mounaguru or PM Vishwaguru?

On Saturday, Chief Minister MK Stalin accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “lying and grumbling” on stage rather than responding to queries from the Tamil Nadu public on the unique programs the federal government has put in place for the state.

Stalin said that while Prime Minister Modi behaved like a “Vishwaguru” on stage, he was really acting more like a “Mounaguru” in order to avoid answering questions from the public.

Stalin responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charges against the DMK at Friday’s public meeting in Kanniyakumari, where he called the DMK an enemy of Tamil Nadu, saying the PM was spreading false information that the DMK’s past transgressions are the reason Tamil Nadu’s fishermen are suffering now.

Stalin said that despite significant resistance from the then-DMK administration, the people of Tamil Nadu are fully aware of how Katchatheevu island was leased to Sri Lanka. He questioned the PM’s “innocence” in thinking that a state government could hand up its territory to another nation. Stalin also demanded an explanation from the BJP about the steps the Union government had made to regain Katchatheevu during the last ten years.

He questioned why the Sri Lankan government had not ended its ongoing detention and abuse of fishermen from Tamil Nadu. He questioned why the government remained mute on protecting the customary fishing rights of Indian fishermen, accusing the Union government of applying pressure to the Sri Lankan government for the Adani Group’s advantage. He questioned, “Are they not Indians?”

The chief minister went on to say that the BJP government instituted the practice in Sri Lanka of sentencing fishermen to jail after their second arrest. He asked, “What steps has the BJP government taken to stop this practice?”

He said that the fisherman of Tamil Nadu would reveal the BJP’s attempt to mask its own shortcomings by defaming the DMK.
