Conflict between SP and Congress in INDIA about the distribution of MP seats

Disputes about seat distribution between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress in the Madhya Pradesh assembly election have come to light inside the INDIA alliance in Uttar Pradesh.

The SP president, Akhilesh Yadav, lashed out at the Congress, saying, “It should be clarified whether the opposition parties’ alliance (INDIA) was at the national or state level.” Yadav was upset over the Congress’ refusal to grant the party adequate seats in MP and even fielding a candidate on the seat that the SP had won in 2018.

On Tuesday evening, Yadav even went so far as to declare that the SP would run candidates for all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh when speaking with media in Kanpur.

“Only then will we be able to beat the BJP if the Alliance exists both at the national and state levels. But at this time, that is not taken into consideration,” he remarked.

Yadav had released his party’s election platform for the MP assembly elections, pledging, among other things, a caste census and free computers to deserving students. A list of candidates for nine seats in the state has also been made public by him.

The SP was anticipating certain seats, according to a senior SP leader, but the Congress on Sunday announced the candidates for over 140 seats, including the Bijawar seat that the SP previously won. As a result, the SP carried out its initial election strategy for Madhya Pradesh, and the state committee would be glad to run for as many seats as possible to help the party grow.

The senior SP leader said that although Yadav spoke with Kamal Nath, the MP Congress head, the Congress disregarded the SP’s demands and announced their seats.

Ajay Rai, the head of the UP Congress, responded to the SP by stating that the Samajwadi Party should give the Congress in Madhya Pradesh its complete support.

“The SP has no foundation of support in MP, and its lone MLA there joined the BJP. Once conversations on the subject are undertaken at the national level, an electoral agreement will be formed, he added.

Rai even said that the Congress would run for Lok Sabha on its own terms, not those of Akhilesh Yadav.

The SP was also affected by prominent party figures joining the Congress.

On Wednesday, former MLAs for SP Gayadeen Anuragi and Ghazipur Pashupati Nath Rai joined the Congress with their supporters. Both of the former MLAs said that only the Congress party is now able to fight for all of society in UP; as a result, they have joined the party to help the Congress party.

Ajay Rai assured those receiving membership cards that their honor and dignity will be preserved during the event.

Rajesh Tripathi, a spokesman for the UP BJP, said that the INDIA coalition was immoral and replete of contradictions.

“There is no uniformity regarding policies in this opposition alliance, and there is a serious question about its leadership,” Tripathi said, adding that the opposition alliance was “limited to only taking photos.”
