Congress Leader: “One Nehru Family Member Will Run for Either Rae Bareli Or Amethi Seat.”

New Delhi: Leading Congressman AK Antony has reaffirmed that in the next Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi or his sister Priyanka Gandhi would run from the Gandhi strongholds of Amethi and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. “One member of the Nehru family will contest from the seat,” Antony said.

The remarks made by the Congress politician coincide with rumors that Robert Vadra, Priyanka Gandhi’s spouse, would run for office from the important Amethi parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh. Before BJP leader Smriti Irani beat him in the 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi served as the seat’s representative. Through the Wayanad seat, which was his secondary seat in the 2019 elections, the Congress politician was able to keep his Lok Sabha membership.

“You await the Congress’s ruling on Raebareli and Amethi. Avoid speculating. Since secular forces do not trust anybody as much as they trust the Gandhi Family, there will undoubtedly be a member of the Gandhi family. India, to the Gandhi family, is one nation. In an interview with a local broadcaster, Antony said, “There will undoubtedly be one person.”

He said that Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi will represent the two important Uttar Pradesh seats.
Robert Vadra said earlier this month that the Amethi people want him to run for office.
“The Amethi people realized their error. They now seem to want a member of the Gandhi family to represent the constituency, in my opinion. Even Amethi folks want me to select Amethi if I decide to get into politics. I recall that in 1999, Robert Vadra ran his first political campaign with Priyanka in Amethi, he told news agency ANI.

Robert Vadra is making a strong claim to the Amethi seat, but the Congress party is refusing to support him for the next Lok Sabha elections. Robert Vadra’s name is not being considered for the Amethi seat, sources inside the UP Congress told Times Now.

Rahul Gandhi was elected from Amethi for the first time in 2004 and again in 2009 and 2014. In the 2019 elections, he lost to Smriti Irani, nevertheless, by a margin of around 55,000 votes.

Union Minister Smriti Irani felt compelled to criticize Rahul Gandhi during an election rally in Wayanad, the Kerala seat from where he has been renominated, due to the Congress’s lack of response about the Amethi seat. She said that Rahul Gandhi was preparing to defraud the people of Wayanad and accused him of having done so in Amethi.

Four lakh households in Amethi received toilets for the first time after (Narendra) Modi was elected prime minister. There was a 50-year Congress rule, and only when Modi became prime minister did 12 individuals get their properties back. I’ve heard that they are now referring to the Wayanad residents as relatives. During the roadshow, Smriti Irani spoke in Hindi. “They (Congress) cheated the people of Amethi in the name of family, and now they are aiming to do the same in Wayanad.”
