Delhi: A 23-year-old man killed by homelessness for “misbehaving with food-giver”

A 24-year-old male was killed, and a 32-year-old homeless man was taken into custody. According to reports, the latter misbehaved with a security guard who used to feed the homeless.

Five days after the murder, the accused—Ravindra, a native of Etah, Uttar Pradesh—was apprehended while peddling oranges and wearing the shoes of the victim.

According to DCP (south) Ankit Chauhan, on March 9, the Maidan Garhi police station received a complaint about Ajay’s disappearance. “The missing individual was seen heading near DDA park, Rajpur Khurd Extension, during CCTV video analysis. When the crew searched the wooded area, they discovered Ajay’s lifeless corpse, according to the DCP. An inquiry was launched when a murder case was reported.

Police examined CCTV video from cameras placed around the scene of the corpse to determine who visited the park with the dead throughout the investigation. They were not seen returning.

In one of the videos, the suspect was seen conversing on the phone. The deceased’s mobile phone records were then examined, and it was discovered that his relative in Faridabad had placed the deceased’s final call.

“The said relative informed the police that, on that particular day, a stranger identified himself as Aslam and told him that the deceased had lent him Rs 3,000 and given him his mobile phone in exchange,” the official said.

In an attempt to capture the offender, the police searched every jhuggi in the Chhatarpur and Rajpur areas. He was still at large, however.

Then, a nearby retailer alerted the authorities to the possibility that the suspect was employed by Rajpur Khurd’s Event Management Company. After being questioned, the business’s owner named Ravinder as the suspect, claiming that he had previously worked there as a laborer and lived in the godown but had vanished without explanation.

At last, the suspect was located in Sector-7 Dwarka. As they approached, the police saw that guy was peddling oranges while donning the deceased’s shoes.

As payback for a pal…

During questioning, the accused said he had been living in the DDA park since February, receiving food from a security guard employee. After Ajay mistreated the guard on March 9 while under the influence of alcohol, the accused became enraged and chose to get revenge. At first, he made friends with him. He then bought alcohol in an attempt to entice the dead to accompany him into the woodland. Ajay was beaten and then strangled to death while intoxicated, according to the DCP. The accused then covered his face with an old T-shirt to evade discovery, put the corpse into shallow water, and left the scene.
