Delhi High Court rules that plotting against the Prime Minister is treasonous

NEW DELHI: According to the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, there was treasonous conspiracy against the Prime Minister, and it is irresponsible to charge someone of such a severe crime in the absence of credible evidence.

BJD MP Pinaki Misra filed a complaint against attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai, requesting that the court stop him from making “false and defamatory” remarks and tweets. The matter was currently being heard in court.

Dehadrai had claimed that Misra had plotted against the Prime Minister alongside TMC MP Mahua Moitra, who had been removed.

Judge Jasmeet Singh pulled up Dehadrai and said, “It is troubling when you say conspiracy against the Prime Minister.” It’s impossible to be trigger happy. Treason is the crime of plotting against the prime minister; it is an offense against the state. It affects the public in a significant way.”

The court ruled that Dehadrai needed to hold off on making such claims until after his complaint to the authorities had been resolved. “The allegation of conspiring against the prime minister cannot be made irresponsibly and needs to be based on cogent and substantive reasons,” the judge said.

Dehadrai and his attorney informed the court that he would hold off on speaking about Misra “conspiring” against the Prime Minister until the next hearing date after Justice Singh’s comments.

The court said that the CBI was already investigating the claims and that the Moitra-Dehadrai case was still pending before the HC.

After recording the defendant’s testimony, the High Court sent notifications about Misra’s lawsuit to Dehadrai and two media outlets.
