Exam time: In Nuh area, chit gangs seize homes and land for rent

This Haryana board test season, Nuh locals are making a ton of money. It is said that they are leasing not only their rooms next to the testing centers but also fields to gang members so they may strategize and carry out their plans.

Because they have easy access to the windows of the exam rooms, these lads visit my home every year and utilize my room and roof. Since the cops are so stringent this year, my hourly wage is Rs 5,000. Punhana resident Mushtaq stated, “My wife monitors the area outside the home and prevents law enforcement from coming in.

“With the cops around, it is hard to remain near the centers for an extended period of time. Gangs are making chits on my farm, which lies in the foothills of the Aravalli mountains. This helps them avoid being found, and in case the cops show up, they take refuge in the hills. A farmer in Ferozepur Jhirka said, “I am charging Rs 10,000 per paper and I am also giving them food.”

According to sources, the gangs are now operating out of the Aravalli highlands as their new command centers.

“It’s safe to go up the hills.” There, we make all of the preparations quietly. After that, the chit team visits the schools to carry up its duties. We are also GPS untraceable because of the hills. “We have a group of young men from the village who sound the alarm whenever the police approach,” said the leader of the dishonest groups.

To avoid the Haryana Police, a large number of these gangs have moved their headquarters to adjacent Rajasthani villages. They do all of their business there, coming into Haryana solely to send chits.

The incidence of contract cheating has escalated to about Rs 5 lakh per village due to heightened police vigilance.

The cops are also working. On social media, images of police pursuing these gang members across farms and the Aravallis have gone viral. A spokesman for the Nuh police said that 34 people were apprehended on March 7 for breaking Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the vicinity of the test centers.

“We’re ramping up the vigil and the next test is on Monday. There are raids happening all over the fields and woodland. Additionally, we are inspecting abandoned buildings and lots close to the school, a Nuh police spokeswoman said.
