Farmers in Sangrur burn the effigy of BJP leader Arvind Khanna

An effigy of senior BJP politician Arvind Khanna was set ablaze in front of his residence on the Government Ranbir College road here today by a huge group of BKU (Ugrahan) members and activists, including women.

Joginder Singh Ugrahan, the state president of the organization, saw the burning of the effigy. When the activists arrived in the Malerkotla area yesterday to oppose Khanna’s visit, they took to the streets to demonstrate against the alleged use of force by the police on farmers.

The BKU employees staged a protest march from the neighborhood grain market to Khanna’s house. They held up signs expressing their demands. Earlier, Ugrahan, district president Amrik Singh Gandhuan, and district general secretary Darbara Singh Chhajla were among the politicians who attended a rally that was conducted at the grain market.

Speaking to the farmers, Ugrahan attacked the central government for failing to carry out the previously agreed upon demands, such as the cancellation of cases filed against farmers during the farmers’ protest in Delhi, strict legal action against those implicated in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, and guaranteed MSP for all crops. He also requested that the farmers maintain their composure during the unrest.
