Five Important Takeaways from PM Modi’s Visit to Andhra Pradesh: Dismiss the Corrupt Andhra Government and Elect Viksit Bharat

On Sunday, while sharing the platform with former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and leader of the Jana Sena party Pawan Kalyan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the people of Andhra Pradesh for support for the NDA.

After at least five years, this was Naidu and PM Modi’s first combined public appearance. In 2018, Naidu, a member of the first Modi cabinet, severed his relationship with the NDA.

Speaking on the state’s development, PM Modi urged young people to support the NDA and overthrow the “corrupt” YSR Congress administration. The state’s ministers “were competing to see who could be more corrupt than the other,” the prime minister stated, taking aim at chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. Their whole emphasis was on corruption.

Five main points emerged from PM Modi’s first political appearance after the Election Commission released the election timetable.

VIKSIT BHARAT, VIKSIT AP = NDA
Underscoring the efforts made by the Union government in the last ten years and emphasizing the development of all societal segments, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed the importance of this election for the nation as it would set the path for the creation of a “Viksit Bharat.” He exhorted the state’s citizens to go on this path toward a developed India.

TELUGU PEOPLE ARE INSULTED BY OPPONENTS
Modi attacked the Congress and the governing YSR Congress, accusing them of being corrupt and holding identical views.

Keep your confusion at bay. At the event, he said, “The Congress party and the YSR Congress are two sides of the same coin.” Referencing the late great NTR, PM Modi said that despite his fight for Telugu pride, the Congress mistreated him. Even though he advocated for the interests of the Telugu people, a legend like NTR was also made to suffer at the hands of the Congress party. Nobody ever gave leaders like PV Narasimha Rao their due. Rao was just awarded the Bharat Ratna by our administration, and the NDA consistently thinks across party lines,” Modi said.

INTERRUPTION OUT PM In 2024, Modi said that it was time to implement changes in the state for development, branding the YSR Congress administration as “extremely corrupt.” The advancement of the populace is not of concern to the state administration. The prime minister pointed out that, interestingly, the sole rivalry among the ministers is not for jobs, but rather over who can be the most dishonest.

THE VOICE OF NAIDU AND KALYAN FOR ANDHRA
In 2014, the TDP took over in Andhra Pradesh concurrently with the ascent of PM Modi to power at the Centre. 2014–2019 saw Chandrababu Naidu serve as chief minister. Conversely, Pawan Kalyan has made it clear that he is prepared to form an alliance with anybody who topples the dishonest Jagan government. The prime minister also emphasized that the NDA was an alliance where regional ambitions were allowed to flourish, in contrast to UPA partners who were only concerned with vote banks and self-serving politics.

PM Modi praised Naidu and Kalyan for their efforts on behalf of the state’s citizens. He said, “Pawan Kalyan and Nara Chandrababu Naidu have been fighting for your rights and the development of Andhra Pradesh day and night.”

PERMANENT ENTHUSIASM FOR DEVELOPMENT
The prime minister discussed his government’s development agenda and its unique emphasis on young empowerment during his speech at the gathering. He said that the center was dedicated to Andhra Pradesh being the nation’s center of education.

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, AIIMS at Managalagiri, NID at Vijayawada, NIT at Tadepalligudem, Central Tribal University at Vizianagaram, IIT in Tirupati, IIITDM in Kurnool, IIM in Vizag, and the National Institute of Customs and Indirect Taxes at Palasamudram will all be built, according to PM Modi, in an effort to uplift the youth of Andhrapudire.

The Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena joined the BJP-led NDA only one week ago in anticipation of the Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh assembly elections.

The three sides have also agreed on the seating arrangements. The TDP will run for 17 Lok Sabha seats and 145 assembly seats, the JSP for 2 Lok Sabha seats and 22 assembly seats, and the BJP for 2 Lok Sabha seats and 8 assembly seats. After the BJP CEC meeting in the nation’s capital, the precise seat allocation is anticipated to be finalized over the following several days.

Notable BJP figures anticipated to run in the Lok Sabha elections include Purandeshwari, NTR’s daughter, who is predicted to win a seat from Rajahmundry. It is anticipated that former union minister YS Chaudhry would run from Elaru, former Rajya Sabha MP CM Ramesh from Anakapalli, and YS Satya Kumar from Hindupur would fight. The BJP is also eager to give former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy a seat in the Lok Sabha.

2019 witnessed surprising election results that forced the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu out of the Lok Sabha and the state legislature.

Jagan Mohan Reddy swept the elections with 155 MLAs and 22 Lok Sabha seats, giving the party a crushing defeat in the assembly results. The party managed to win only three Lok Sabha seats out of a possible 25.

The BJP, which has been attempting valiantly to establish itself in Andhra Pradesh, received fewer than 1% of the vote. The NDA is expecting a significant boost to its prospects with the existing coalition in place and anti-incumbency staring Jagan Mohan Reddy in the face.
