Gidugu claims the YSRC government embezzled Rs 8,660 crore in panchayat finances

The heads of all party committees criticized the State administration harshly for withholding the money from the rural sarpanches.

They said that throughout the previous five years, there had been no progress in any of the settlements.

At an all-party meeting that took place here on Thursday, the leaders got together to talk about the shortcomings of the YSRC administration.

Members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) Gidugu Rudraraju, Yalamanchili Rajendra Prasad, general secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Sarpanches Association, president of the District Panchayat Sarpanches Association Nagabattula Santikumari, president of the West Godavari Sarpanches Association Paladugula Lakshmanarao, and other officials attended the meeting.

Speaking at the event, CWC member Gidugu Rudraraju said that the State administration had defrauded the local bodies and siphoned off at least Rs 8,660 crore in revenue.

“The settlements lack street lighting and proper sanitation has not been implemented. It’s time for us to concentrate on the development of the communities, he said.

He further requested that all parties join together to force the government to disburse funding, accusing the State government of usurping the rural panchayats’ rights.

According to Rajendra Prasad, the State administration abandoned the village panchayats and used the money from the finance commission for other initiatives. Declaring, “This is nothing but betrayal to the Grama Swaraj,” he said that the State administration had embezzled the money that had been distributed to panchayats.
