Harasser attacks a fifteen-year-old girl’s Delhi home, finds her, and kills her mother

NEW DELHI: On Friday, within the Jahangirpuri neighborhood of northwest Delhi, a youth shot and killed the mother of a fifteen-year-old girl from a different community.

A few months shy of eighteen, the kid had apparently been bothering the girl for some time—he had even once approached her on the road—and wanted to make friends with her.

Her parents were alarmed and sent her to a hostel. The youngster became enraged by it.

He barged into her home on Friday at noon with two of his assistants and demanded to know where her mother was. The girl wasn’t home, she answered. A relative began calling other relatives for assistance when they sensed problems. The 35-year-old lady was then shot twice by the youngster, who then ran away.

Doctors at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital pronounced her dead after she was taken there in a hurry. When the final reports came in, police had not yet taken the three attackers into custody.

The girl’s family said that despite several reports to the police about the harassment, nothing substantial was done to safeguard the girl or put the kid under control.

A relative said that the youngster had been threatening the family for the previous month and that he had even updated his social media profile with a picture of himself holding a weapon.

A sizable police presence guarded the area after the incident to prevent intercommunal strife.

They convened with the elders of the two villages as well. The safety of women and the efficiency of the police in dealing with such crimes were issues voiced by the people.Police claimed they were tracking the accused’s movements by analyzing CCTV video and executing searches to apprehend them. “A number of teams are searching for the defendant. They would be taken into custody soon, DCP Jitender Meena (northwest) said.
