Hindu population decline is concerning, according to BJP leader CT Ravi

May 9, Bengaluru C.T. Ravi, a former national general secretary of the BJP, has voiced concerns over the rise in Muslim population and the fall in Hindu population between 1950 and 2015.

In an interview with IANS on Thursday, he cautioned against ignoring the historical ramifications of such developments, citing the formation of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh as instances.

Ravi underlined that changes in the population might cause unease and jeopardize the stability of the Constitution. He maintained that if the population’s demographics keep shifting, there may be a loss of liberties related to religion and culture, and some groups may end up controlling holidays and festivities. He also expressed alarm over unaddressed problems like “love jihad” and the killing of cows.

The head of the BJP put forward two remedies in response to these worries. First and foremost, he promoted greater public knowledge in order to discourage religious conversions and promote opposition to population shifts. Second, he advocated for legislative action to solve these problems, saying that laws must be passed in order to protect social peace and safeguard each citizen’s rights.

Ravi emphasized the necessity of teaching the next generation about the facts of India’s partition and the predicament of refugees, and he warned against overlooking the historical relevance of areas that were once a part of India, such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. In order to avoid such problems in the future, he emphasized the need to remember past events and draw lessons from them.
