Health Department tests five different stores

A group from the Health Department conducted an unexpected inspection in the Dhab Wasti Ram neighborhood of the city, gathering food samples from five different establishments.

In addition to samples from two sweetmeat stores, the team also gathered food ingredient samples from three wholesale merchants, according to Rajinderpal Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Food Safety). According to Singh, store owners in the vicinity started the process of sealing their stores as soon as they found out the health team was there.

He said, “Shopkeepers were prepared for an inspection and had opened their stores on this day.” All samples were submitted for testing, he added, and the results of the investigation will determine if retailers were to face consequences.
