Hisar range finds 27 drug traffickers’ properties valued at Rs 4 crore

In the midst of a fierce battle to destroy the drug cartel operating in the area, the Hisar Range police have seized assets worth Rs 4 crore from 27 drug traffickers in the police districts of Dabwali and Fatehabad.

Twenty-two drug traffickers from the Fatehabad district and five from the Dabwali police district are among the 27 drug peddlers whose moveable and immovable possessions have been seized, according to Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP), Hisar, M Ravi Kiran. According to the ADGP, 22 drug dealers from the Fatehabad district had their homes and agricultural land valued at Rs 2.69 crore. Five drug traffickers in the Dabwali area have had their moveable and immovable property valued at over Rs 1.40 crore confiscated by the police.

The ADGP said that in order to stop the growing drug problem in the range’s five police districts, the police had been pursuing tough measures against drug traffickers. “The police will take strict action against anyone found guilty of selling or possessing drugs,” he said.

According to the ADGP, the police have so far this year recorded 204 drug-related criminal cases and detained 293 people for drug sales. In the Sirsa region, a maximum of 87 criminal charges under the NDPS Act have been lodged, resulting in the incarceration of 123 drug traffickers. Additionally, 49 complaints against drug traffickers were filed in the Dabwali police district, and 70 of them were taken into custody, he added.

According to Kiran, the Fatehabad district had 30 charges filed against drug traffickers, and 47 of them had been apprehended. According to the ADGP, the police had filed 19 cases and arrested 25 drug smugglers in the Hisar district; in Jind, they had filed 16 cases and arrested 23 drug smugglers. They also reported that the police in Hansi had filed three cases and arrested five drug smugglers.

He said that in addition to taking action against the drug traffickers’ network, the range police were also attempting to cure drug users. At the village and ward levels, special awareness and de-addiction programs are being held. In the Hisar area, 1,096 such awareness programs and 121 drug de-addiction camps have been held so far, the man said. 3,700 drug-addicted adolescents received counseling, out of the 2,806 drug-affected youth that attended these camps. He said that 662 of the 2,256 drug addicts receiving treatment via these camps have made a commitment to stop using drugs.
