Hot and muggy day after the rain; today’s temperature will increase

New Delhi: Following a day of light rain, Delhi had another hot and muggy day, with Thursday potentially seeing a rise in the city’s maximum temperature.

Wednesday’s high was 37.5 degrees Celsius, which is typical for the season, as opposed to 36.8 degrees Celsius the day before. Pitampura had the highest temperature in the city at 39.2 degrees Celsius.

There was a variation in humidity from 28% to 92%.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the high temperature will be 40 degrees Celsius on Friday, however, there will be a brief break in the weather because of further rain that is expected to fall by late Friday night.

“The highest temperature will continue to rise, and by Friday, it may reach 40 degrees. The days will continue to be warm and muggy, making outdoor activities more uncomfortable. An IMD spokesman said, “There is, however, a chance of drizzle towards late Friday evening and night, which may bring some respite.”

Safdarjung, the city’s base station, recorded 2 millimeters of rain between Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday, at 8.30 a.m., according to IMD. Delhi has seen 4.9mm of rain so far this month. April’s rainfall long-term average is 13.9 mm. In April of last year, Delhi received 20.1 mm of rain.

On Thursday, the highest and lowest temperatures are probably going to be in the range of 38 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The city continued to have mediocre air quality. On a scale of 0 to 500, the air quality index (AQI) was 178 on Wednesday, compared to 188 the previous day. The monitoring organizations for pollution anticipate that the AQI will stay in the moderate range. According to IITM, “the air quality is likely to be in the moderate category from April 25 to April 27.” TNN
