Hubballi murder: “We were in a relationship, not love jihad,” claims the home minister; the girl’s father and the BJP respond

Neha Hiremath, the daughter of a Congress corporator, was murdered in Hubballi, which set up a political brawl in the state.

Home Minister G Parameshwara came under fire on Friday from the girl’s father and BJP leaders for saying that the victim and the accused were in a relationship and that the case was not one of “love jihad.”

Neha Hiremath, the daughter of Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was fatally hacked on Thursday on the campus of BV Bhoomaraddi College in Hubballi by her former classmate Fayaz.

“Love jihad” is not the situation here. From what I’ve been told, the girl and the guy were romantically involved. After learning that she was going to marry someone else, he may have stabbed her, the home minister said to reporters in Tumakuru.

He stated that the culprit has been caught by the police and that he would face legal prosecution. He further said that BJP politicians have developed the habit of blaming the government for every problem.

Niranjan Hiremath, in the meanwhile, asked the police to look into the “love jihad” element as well. “I want justice for my little girl, and I want it now. I’ve also requested that the police look into the “love jihad” aspect. I’ve begged BJP leaders to assist me in obtaining justice. Until the guilty is hung, I won’t stop. Such events ought not to occur, he said.

“Every murder happens for personal reasons,” Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayanand and State Police Chief Alok Mohan discussed at a meeting called by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Law and order maintenance is the responsibility of the government, and it is being carried out by ours.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that these kinds of occurrences occur for private motives, irrespective of the government. However, law and order in the state has not gotten worse.

Leaders of the BJP said that Siddaramaiah and his ministers had made careless remarks on the girl’s death.

Union minister Pralhad Joshi criticized the state administration harshly, accusing them of favoring one group just in order to get votes. Is this not an instance of “love jihad”? It is very unfortunate. The girl’s father is a Congress corporator, and he claims that the situation is one of “love jihad.” However, the leaders of Congress are not saying much,” said R Ashoka, the Legislative Assembly’s Leader of Opposition. He said that the Congress administration was providing “passports” to those engaged in “love jihad.”
