In addition to BJP emphasis, women voters

The BJP is making a major effort to win over female voters as part of its national electoral strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, especially in the 12 states where the proportion of female voters is higher.

68 of its 423 candidates are female, making up about 16% of the candidates running in the seven-phase elections that began on Friday.

As part of its plan to gain 370 seats, the party is running distinctive campaigns in each of the target states to increase the viability of its female candidates in more than 100 seats. In an interview with this publication, a senior party official said that the majority of BJP employees, ranging from panchayat to district levels, had been assigned to conduct a “door-to-door” campaign aimed at divisiveness among female and youth voters.

The party’s prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Amit Shah, and 37 other well-known candidates, have also stepped up their electioneering, rallies, and other activities.

According to a top female BJP official, “the party is building a significant core vote bank of women with an eye towards the general elections in 2029.” “We filed 38 female candidates in 2014; that number increased to 55 in 2019 and 68 in 2024.

This illustrates our mounting fears about gaining a significant portion of the female vote. Another woman employee said, “With the performances of the Modi government over the past ten years, our workers are reaching out to the women.”

A knowledgeable source informed this publication recently that a well-thought-out and targeted approach has been established to reach out to women voters throughout the nation, citing a recent SBI study, in view of the forecast that women would outnumber male voters in the country by 2029.

By doing this, the party hopes to build a sizable base of support among women who share its political beliefs and realize PM Modi’s “Viksit-Bharat” goal by the year 2047. A senior party source stated, “A sea of workers have been engaged in conducting “door to door” campaigns to reach out to women voters with the Modi Ki Guarantee mentioned in the party manifesto on women with works so far done for them in the last ten years,” as part of this well-crafted strategy in effect from this Lok Sabha election.

He claimed that when the BJP wins significant gains among women voters in the 12 states, outreach programs would be extended to the other states over the course of the next four years, leading up to 2029.

The SBI analysis predicts that by 2047, women would likely vote in more elections than men, with a turnout of above 55% compared to 45% for males. According to a BJP official, “Our party has set out on a mission to court women and young voters, whose numbers are consistently rising in every election.”

He went on, “There are some states where there are more women voters than men, like Kerala and Tamil Nadu.” Nearly 26 crore of the 55 crore voters who participated in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections were women, according to official figures. This is a 5.5% increase over the average voter participation recorded between 1962 and 2009.

According to reports, 62.5 crore people cast ballots in 2019, with 30 crore of those people being women. It is anticipated that 68–70 crore individuals would cast ballots in the current local elections, with 32–33 crore of them being women.
