In Arunachal, almost 74% of voters cast ballots in a repeat of elections at eight booths

GUWAHATI: Over 74% of voters cast ballots in the rerun elections, which were held calmly and without any untoward incidents at eight polling places in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

The Election Commission ordered reelection in response to violent occurrences and issues with electronic voting machines during the first round of voting on April 19. The assembly seats of Sario, Longte Loth, Bogne, Molom, Dingser, Bogiya Siyum, Jimbari, and Lengi had the most impacted voting places.

The state had simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and assemblies.

On April 19, a projected 82.71% of the 8,92,694 people cast ballots, using their right to vote to choose 50 MLAs for the frontier state’s 60-member parliament. With no opposition, the BJP has already secured ten assembly seats.

In the state, 77.51% of voters cast ballots in the Lok Sabha elections. Voters will be counted on June 2 for the assembly elections and on June 4 for the Lok Sabha elections, which will be held simultaneously with national elections.
