In the Chhattisgarh city of Bhilai’s Maitri Bagh Zoo, three white tiger cubs were born

At the Maitri Bagh Zoo in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, a white tigress gave birth to three pups, authorities said on Sunday. The number of white tigers at the zoo in Bhilai city, around 35 kilometers from Raipur, has increased to nine with the birth of these cubs, of which news was made public on Saturday.

“The white tigress Raksha gave birth to three pups on April 28. The cubs’ father is Sultan, a white tiger. According to veterinary regulations, the mother and cubs are housed in a dimly lit chamber to monitor nursing and other health-related factors, according to zoo director NK Jain.

After the four months of care are over, the cubs will be made available for public viewing, he said.

‘Singham’ was the name of the youngster born to white tigress Roma in September of last year. Jain said that the white tiger Sultan had also fathered it. The zoo now houses nine white tigers, including the young cubs.

Tarun and Tapsi, a couple of white tigers from the neighboring Odisha Nandan Kanan Zoo, were moved to Maitri Bagh for the first time in 1997, he added.

The biggest steel manufacturer in the nation, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), maintains Maitri Bagh via its flagship facility, Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP).
